Typical Roma starts in Romania today!

Two Roma youth clubs from the cities of Baia Mare and Targu Mures organise press conferences on February the 10th. During the meetings, they anounce the start of the Typical Roma? – campaign in Romania. This campaign is supported and coordinated by ERGO and Spolu.

“On this day we also launch the ´Most Roma-friendly-Mayor contest´ in Romania”, says Cristina Martocian, the 25-year old coordinatior of the Typical Roma-activities in Baia Mare. “on Febraury 11th, both Roma youth clubs will send invitation letters to several mayors´offices and a questionnaire to at least ten Romanian city halls recommended by Roma experts in the different prefectures`. The deadline for submitting applications for the contest will be March 1st. The results of the selection will be announced five days later. If the selected mayor will be from Maramures county in north-eastern Romania, the announcement could be made on March 7th, during the theatre play organised within the campaign by the Baia Mare Roma Youth Club.
